Abstract
There is little doubt that the expansion in East African coffee production, which was described in Part I of this report, will be continued at about the same rate during the next two decades. The recent rise in total output resulted from the widespread planting during the period of higher prices after the war, but the figures of planted acreage reveal that the total area under coffee is still advancing steadily. While the traditional areas have been developed more intensively, new and previously I untouched districts in the three territories are, also being exploited, and official encouragement to the industry is being specifically aimed at the latter areas.Since, at prices likely to rule in the immediate future, coffee remains a remunerative crop, production will continue to rise over the longer period.
