Abstract
An investigation was undertaken in the Nigerian high forest region to determine the influence of living roots of coppicing teak on the yield characteristics of intercropped maize. Restricted random sampling techniques were employed in data collection. The parameters measured were maize grain yield, mean cob weight and number of cobs per plant. The result showed no significant difference (p>0.05) between the yield characteristics of maize under influence of living roots of teak and that outside it. The conclusion was that, competition between living roots of coppicing teak and maize was not a critical limiting faotor in the performance of maize.
