Abstract
This report describes the first phase of a planned two-phase survey in central Region, Togo. The main objectives of the survey were to assess levels of insect infestation and damage in maize and dried cassava (cossettes) stored on farms, and to investigate farmers' storage practices and their possible effects upon insect pests. In particular, the survey aimed to assess the current importance of the Larger Grain Borer (LGB) (prostephanus truncatus; coleoptera: Bostrichidae), in central Region. This storage pest invaded Togo in 1984 and has been steadily increasing in significance.
