Abstract
Study of temporal changes in the distribution of the African Armyworm, Spodoptera exempta, in East Africa has led to the conclusion that this moth undertakes migratory flights over considerable distances (Brown and Swaine, 1966; Brown et aZ., 1969). The question arises as to whether the moth is physiologically capable of the prolonged flight that would be necessary for such migration. The following experiments suggest that it is.
