Abstract
Geo morphologic and strati graphic evidence for Late Quaternary high lake in the Nakuru-Elmenteita basin, Kenya, is released. The existence of a 18o-metre-deep lake about 9600 years ago is established. This may be taken as equivalent to the 'Gamblian' high lake of the earlier terminology. However, the full Gamblian Iakalian-Xakuran sequence of lake level fluctuations cannot be confirmed, and it is suggested that, this sequence should not be used as the basis of late Quaternary chronology for East and Central .. linea.
