Abstract
While it is possible to design an agri, cultural holding for an African from information contained in crop acreage returns. these statistics only give average areas per capita, and do not give any idea of the agricultural economy of the family. It is necessary to know the family's means of subsistence. and its method of raising money. The size of the family and the working capacity of its members are important considerations. varying as they do among different tribes. And as it has been accepted that the best results are obtained in Africa by improving existing methods. rather than in attempt, ing to impose entirely new ones. it be, comes the more important to find out the family outlook.
