Abstract
The following remarks refer mainly to Uganda, which is probably unique in the number of primate species native to its small area. Here, the great apes are protected, and nominal protection is extended to the black and white colobus monkey (thought its skins are freely available at any curio shop). The resit of the monkeys, 14 species as a very conservative estimate, are considered to be vermin; the prosimians (pottos and bushbabies) do not seem to exist officially at all.
