Abstract
The West Pokot District stretches from the Cherengani Hills in the south, to the Lava Mountains of the Karasuk Hills and their surroundings in the north. This rugged area beyond 2°N has agricultural possibilities in only a few pockets, so that the agro-ecological zonation was confined to the southern part of West Pokot. Annual rainfall in this part of the District is variable, averaging from 500 to >1200 mm.
