Abstract
This Miscellaneous soil paper is an addendum to the paper titled “The Oxisols of Kenya" (Muchena and Sanbroek, 1981) which was presented at the 4th International Soil Classification Workshop, Ruanda, 2-l2th June, 1981. The paper gives profile descriptions and analytical data of 37 selected Kenyan Oxisols (Ferralsols). The profile descriptions and analytical data have been selected from soil surveys which have been carried out by the Kenya 5011 Survey. Although a considerable number of profiles is presented in this paper it should be noted that Oxisols (Ferralsols) cover only a minor part of Kenyan land surface. They occur on a variety of physiographic positions and are developed on a variety of parent materials. Most of them are found on plateaus, gently dissected peneplains ("uplands") and non-dissected erosional plains. Parent materials may be Tertiary volcanics (basalts, phonolites etc) pre-Cambrinn Basement System rocks (granitoid gneisses, biotite gneisses, hornblende gneisses, etc) or Cenozoic unconsolidated sediments.
