Abstract
The main objective of the Ahero Irrigation Research project – the compilation of basic data for the proposed feasibility study of irrigation development of the Kano Plain - has now been completed. The data refer to irrigation, drainage and agricultural production and cover both the technical and the cost aspects. Many of the technical problems relating to irrigation and drainage have been solved at the station, a situation which finds expression in high crop production levels. Studies on possible salinity hazards and rising groundwater tables have been finalized. Water management on the pilot schemes, however, still forms a major problem.
