Abstract
Emphasis was given to having a broad-base of inputs from several disciplines in the planning effort. Suggestions included socio-economics, natural resource specialists, extension specialists, educators, marketing specialists, and people from industry. The objective is to gain their insight relative to overall constraints and needs for technology. It was clear after the afternoon session that it would require more explanation to achieve the commodity plans. Therefore, the planned visits to the Njoro Center, Lanet Center, the Kenya Seed Company at Nakuru, and Perkerra Center scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday were cancelled. Instead, commodity groups were more formalized, and half-day meetings were scheduled for each of the groups, two on Wednesday and two on Thursday.
