Abstract
The area of coffee in Kenya is small by World standards but to the country the production of the high quality Arabica coffee (CotJea arabica L.) is vitally important. There are now about 125,000 acres (50,600 hectares) of coffee all of which has been planted during this century and some of which is not yet fully mature. Nearly half the area of coffee is on small peasant farms which have been developed recently, whereas all the coffee planted before the Second World War is managed on a plantation scale.
