Abstract
The Kenya Soil Survey is a section of the National Agricultural Research Laboratories (NARL) under the Kenya Agricultural Research Institute (KARl). The section has four units, which are the Natural Resource Unit (NRU), Laboratory Unit (LU), Information Unit (IU) and the Administration Unit (AU). The units work in harmony in the provision of information for a better Natural Resource Management. The section's activities are based on the following objectives: • To conduct inventories on soils, land, environment and their inter-relationship with agricultural production and natural resource management (NRM); • To provide services on soil survey and other land resources for specific and alternative land uses for purposes of development. NRM or research on request; and • To research on the most effective methods of collecting and presenting soils information and research on the characteristics of the main soils and environmental conditions
