Abstract
Kenya Agricultural Research Institute (KARl) was established in 1979. Its legal status is established by the Science and Technology (Amendment) Act, 1979. Its prime concerns are to increase the performance of crops and livestock in an effort to contribute to sustainable and increased food production. The Institute also aims at improving the quality characteristics of food and other farm products, hence increase the demand for Kenyan products in both the local and external markets. The Institute aims at developing systems for management and conservation of natural resources for sustainable agriculture.
