Abstract
The last few years have seen an appreciable amount of development of vleiland (seasonally waterlogged land) in West Kenya; maize, and to a lesser extent, wheat and oats, have been the most popular crops. Very little has, however, been done in the way of experimental work to determine suitable pasture species, carrying capacity and fertilizer requirements for crops or pastures.
