Abstract
As copper is commonly recognized as essential for both plants and animals, an investigation has been carried out to estimate the copper content and availability in soils from both high and low rainfall areas in Kenya. The present investigation includes an examination of the relationship between various soil parameters and total extractable copper, EDTA extractable copper, and the copper uptake. This was done by carrying out analyses and glasshouse experiments on samples of arrange of soils. It is hoped that this work will lead to a more refined criteria for localizing the copper deficient soils in Kenya.
