Abstract
Following the liberalisation of the delivery of animal health services (AHS) in Kenya; Agrovet dukas have become a significant avenue in the provision of the services. The dukas are distributed all over the country. They provide veterinary and agricultural inputs. The former includes dewormers, acaricides and feed supplements. In addition, some dukas supply ethical products such as antibiotics, anti-protozoa drugs as well as vaccines. Most dukas also stock other items ranging from hardware to animal feeds and human foodstuffs. The majority of the dukas are manned by non-professional staff, either as owners or as employees of the owner paraveterinarian or veterinarian. In addition to selling ethical substances, the nonprofessionals also offer animal health advice and services.
