Abstract
PIROPLASMOSIS OF EQUINES (BILIARY FEVER) Two species of piroplasms, both of which occur in Kenya, are known to occur in equines. They are Babesia caballi and Nuttalia equi. Microscopically, Babesia, caballi closely resembles Babesia bigeminum of cattle in appearance, whereas Nuttalia equi is a smaller parasite, more akin to the species of the genus Theileria The latter parasite is much more frequently encountered in Kenya.
