Abstract
The methods used to' obtain measurements of total sediment yield have been described briefly in Sections 5.1.1. Suspended sediment, During periods of steady flows, was measured by taking a sample of 568 cc (1 pint) from the weir and bulking these into' a monthly sample. The excess water was evaporated before •the samples were des• Patched to' EAAFRO for analysis. Suspended sediment during storm flow was sampled by means Of the apparatus described in Pereira And Hose good (1962), which extracted 568 cc samples at the surface and at a preset level below the surface during two' stages of the Rising flood. Bed-load was measured by means Of a slit trap, up9tream of the weir, which was periodically emptied.
