Abstract
The study is concerned with animal trypanosomiasis and the environmental implications of tsetse and trypanosomiasis control. Livestock production is the industry most affected by Trypanosomiasis. In reviewing tsetse control from 1940 to 1991 the limiting factor is the cost of the control operation. Cost considerations usually dictated which control/eradication method would be used. Historically, no formal control strategy for animal trypanosomiasis has ever existed in Kenya. Since the mid nineteen sixties, animal trypanosomiasis has almost exclusively been controlled by use of trypanocidal drugs.
