Abstract
This manual begins with a chapter describing the climate and another describing the soils of the area. The 3rd and 4th chapters deal with soil conservation and with the fertility of soils and application of fertilizer, respectively. Crop rotations are discussed in chapter 5 and various aspects of the establishment of crops and their management including defoliation and pruning of cotton as practiced in the area are considered in chapter 6. Chapters 7-9 deal with weeds, pests and disease and chapter 10 with pesticides and their residues. Harvesting is considered in chapter II with sections on cotton, rice, Phaseolus vulgaris, maize, soyabean and wheat and chapter 12 is concerned with costs of production. The final chapter deals with cattle production with sections on recommended fodders for various areas, establishment of pastures, descriptions of various fodder species, artificial insemination and milk production.
