Abstract
Tunisia occupies the most easterly part of North Africa, and is broadly exposed both from the point of view of the climate and the cultural influences of the Mediterranean sea. It covers an area of about 164,000 km2 , of which 40,000 km 2 has a Saharian environment. The population is about 7 million.
