Abstract
It must be remembered that pruning, like, all other agricultural practices, does not start with the taking up of pruning shears and the cutting-off of branches. Considerable forethought and planning are first required. The first step is to decide what return is expected from the land. Having made this decision you must forget it completely! Secondly, with the help of the Research Station, an examination is made of the soil type, and of the plant nutrients available.
