Abstract
A high incidence of CysticerclIs bovis infection has been reported in adult East African cattle (Ginsbcrg ct aI., 19.56, Bull. Epiz. Dis. Afr. 4: 27-39). Until recently, it has been assumed that these were primary infections acquired during the last months of life since Penfold (1937, Med. J. Aust. 1: 579-583) had found in Australia that the longevity of C. bovis in experimentally infected cattle was less than 1 year and that infection was followed by absolute resistance to reinfection (Penfold ct aI., 1936, Med. J. Aust. 1: 417-423).
