Abstract
The International Dairy Federation (I.D.F.) Expert Group on Mastitis (1970) stated that the average cell count in milk decreases markedly after the first month of, lactation and rises towards the end of lactation. Brus et aI. (1969) and Miher and Finker (1969) Showed that the number -of cells in quarter samples varied with the state of 1actation. Schalm et al. (1971), and Ward and Horten (1965) reported that as lactation progresses, the number of leucocytes •in the milk increases.
