Abstract
The application of predetermined amounts of spray to experimental plots is offer difficult. However, the output of a constant-pressure sprayer varies with spraying duration, thus enabling spraying time to be used as a measure of the amount applied. Timing is normally carried out by an assistant with a stop watch or, with greater difficulty, by the spray operator himself. Inaccuracies can occur, for example, when an obstacle is encountered is encountered and spraying is temporally interrupted. Cumulative errors may occur when several swathes have to be sprayed in one plot and the watch stopped and restarted.
