Abstract
The growth and development of an animal reflects the climatic and imposed management factors of its environment. Regular knowledge of individual animal weights is indispensable to optimum progress in livestock rearing and production however good the stockman's visual appraisal of the well-being of his herds. In African areas weighing facilities are found only on Government farms and a few large commercial holdings.
