Abstract
A major drawback to sheep production in the tropical countries is that they are raised and finished under natural pasture ", here Conditions are for most of the year suboptimal (MacDowell, 1972). The fattened sheep are brought to the feedlot rather late in their lives as mature animals. An alternative method is to raise sheep under these suboptimal conditions and to move them as early as possible to be finished in feedlots. This largely depend upon the economics of feedlot operations (Galal, Seoudy, Youl1'is and Khishin, 1971).
