Abstract
Kenya is an agricultural country with the majority of people depending mainly on farming for their livelihood. The farmers grow a wide range of crops including tropical and temperate fruits, such as bananas (Musa paradisiaca), mangoes (Mangiferae indica), paw paws (Carica papaya), avocadoes (Persea americana), pineapples (Ananas cosmosus), 'apples (Malussylivestl'is), pears (Pyrus prunifolia), plums (Prunus salicina) strawberries (Fragaria sp.) and various citrus fruits (Citrus sp.). Most of these fruits are of comparable quality, to, those of major fruit producing countries (Stoughton 1967)
