Abstract
The genus Otomeria was founded for guineensis by Bentham (2) who mentioned the striking resemblance of the plant to Otiophora scabra Zucco The relationship of this genus to Pentas has been realized ever since the founding of the genus and both Scott Elliot (5) and Bar (1) have advocated that the two genera should be merged. More will be said about this subject in a further paper. The relationship is undoubtedly a close one and there is possibly more than one link between the two genera. It is nevertheless convenient and probably more correct to keep the two genera separate.
