Abstract
The penetration, migration and subsequent maturation of schistosome cercariae are controlled by two major factors-the status of the cercariae at the time of contact with the host, and the physiological condition of the host at the time of contact and subsequently. In the first paper of this series (Purnell, 1966) the effect of temperature on the cercariae during contact with the host was examined. In the present paper the effects of the age and sex of the host are investigated.
