Abstract
Sorghum is an important cereal for the arid and semi-arid areas of Kenya. The Sorghum Improvement Programme for these areas, based at the National Dryland Farming Research Station, Katumani, has the objective of developing drought-resistant, good-quality, short-to-medium statured, early-maturing genotypes with insect and disease resistance, with particular emphasis on charcoal-rot.
