Abstract
About three years ago the Kenya Game Department initiated a small-scale public education programme on the importance and economic value of our wildlife. The area selected for this pilot programme was the Samburu district on the NOI1thern Frontier. The prime purpose of this effort was to arouse the local public's interest in wildlife and in this way lead them to realizing the need for wildlife conservation and development. This was to be achieved through lectures and meetings to be conducted around the district.
