Abstract
The study ,of pasture legumes in Kenya has been going on, sporadically, for over 30 years but our knowledge of them has lagged far behind our knowledge of grasses. Thus, while grass deys are important in the large-scale mixed farming areas and in the more advanced small-scale areas, grass legume pastures are only now coming into use. Also, whereas almost all the grasses planted below 8,000 ft. are local selections of indigenous grasses, only one indigenous legume, Kenya White Clover (Trifolium semipilosum) is ,in Iimited commercial use. in this content it is of interest thatwhile descriptions and keys to Kenya grasses have been available for many years, no compamble key :to Kenya legumes has yet been published.
