Abstract
E1angata Wuasgroup Tapch lies betvJecn Kaj iado and Nagadi towns in Loodokilcl1i Section of Kajiado District. It is bordered by other group ranches: namely Kilonito and Sokoto to the north, Olkitoriti and Enkaroni to the east, 010ngoswa and Torosei to the south, and Olkeri and Oldoinyoonyokie to the west (Figure 1). E1angata Huas group ranch covers 77 257 ha, although 12 759 ha have been allocated as individual ranches and 5 000 ha are reserved as holding pastures for fattening steers. The remaining 59 498 ha are used in common by the ranch members. The extent to which Elangata Was group ranch is representative of other group ranches in Kenya, in terris of size, level of investment and vegetation, is summarized in Al'pendix 1.
