Abstract
Sclerotia of Dactuliophora tarrii germinated only in liquid water and started germinating within six hours after wetting. They germinated best when incubated at 20°C. Germination was stimulated by a glucose-sodium nitrate medium, Czapek's Dox medium, and by leaves of cowpeas Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp c.v. Teso Local, beans Phaseolus vulgaris L. c.v. Canadian Wonder and garden peas Pisum sativum L. Soil inhibited the germination but the fungistatic principle was largely destroyed by autoc1aving.
