Abstract
This is only a limited survey based on the results of one year; disease severity varies from year to year and diseases not found in 1968 may occur. The 1968 results indicate that leaf necrosis wilt and rust (P. helianthi) are potentially the greatest threats to sunflower production in Kenya. The cause of leaf necrosis wilt should be determined and a search for resistance should be initiated. Rust resistance should be an important consideration in the breeding programme.
