Abstract
The majority of African countries are faced with great challenges to sustain and increase food production for their rapidly growing population. The various forms of land degradation are seriously affecting the finite soil resources base and contributing to considerable yield decline and loss in food production and hence the food security at household and country level. It is evident that no sustainable food security could be expected without effective and adapted planning and improved management of land, water and nutrient resources.
