Abstract
When molecule species are irradiated by photons of light, the light may be absorbed, transmitted or reflected. The light that is absorbed may stimulate electronic and vibration transitions in the molecule. Electronic excitation usually takes place from the lowest vibrational level of the ground state, Eo. The light that is absorbed or emitted by a body is absorbed by a body is absorbed or emitted in discrete units termed quantum. The energy, E, carried by one quantum is proportional to the frequency of the radiation
