Abstract
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations recently published a booklet entitled Legumes in Agriculture (1953) [1]. In referring to Indigofera the publication states: "This genus comprises about 300 species found in all tropical regions and as far down as the Cape in Africa. They are usually shrubs or perennial herbs The genus Indigofera comprises certain species which apparently cannot be eaten by stock with impunity (I. hirsuta), others which are sometimes poisonous (I. endecaphylla), and a great many species which are invariably poisonous."
