Abstract
Despite the closing down of the East African Machinery Testing Unit in 1962 and the loss of many qualified and experienced staff from the three countries of East Africa, considerable progress has been made in agricultural mechanization during the past two years. Political pressure to increase mechanization together with external assistance in the form of personnel and funds have been mostly responsible for the progress, but, nevertheless, much has been the fruits of previous research and experimental work.
