Abstract
It has already been shown that, on the basis of geographic and geologic considerations, the Tana basin can be divided into upper, middle and lower catchments. This subdivision is also convenient from the water resources point of view since it defines: a. An upper catchment which has some potential for irrigated agriculture, but only limited power potential, b , A middle catchment which has a significant power potential but virtually no practicable irrigation potential, and c, A lower catchment which has a substantial irrigation potential but is devoid of power sites.
