Abstract
The unusual wet condition in 1977,when a total of 1025.4 mm of rain was recorded at Jacaranda between January and June, 1977,provided favourable conditions for high incidence of Coffee Berry Disease (CBD) and leaf rust.Consequently, the Coffee Research Station (CRS) warned growers of the possibility of severe outbreaks of CBD and leaf rust and growers were advised to apply fungicides at the recommended rates and at intervals of not more than three weeks if possible.Coffee areas in high altitudes were more affected than other areas. In many cases, extended sprays to July and August helped to save much of the crop.
