Abstract
Mr. H. A. Delap, in your July, 1948,Number has taken my name in vain when he mentions my advocation of agreements with labour of never less than 30 days. This was as far back as July, 1945, and the necessarily was great, as great for the Producer as for the native. The intervening years have seen a progressively increased need for the cure of casualness in labour and Mr.Delap hopes that "more and more consideration may be given to ways and means of improving the control of agricultural labour, for the general good of the Country, the employer and last but by no means least, the labourer." The consideration given to this matter has been so weighty that we are now embarking on the scheme of Universal Registration which is a piece of unnecessary appeasement of labour that will result in a greatly increased casualness.
