Abstract
Linseed, or flax, (Linum usitatissimum) has been grown in the Eldoret area of Kenya for 50 years. After the collapse of the flax boom in 1920 the acreage was small, the seed being mainly used for feeding to horses, and the flax for thatching. A small flax factory was working at Hoeys Bridge in 1954, but later closed.
