Abstract
Most tractor-mounted sprayers imported into East Africa are designed for spraying orchards in Europe where spacing and conditions are quite different from those obtaining in East Africa in coffee plantations. The sprayer here described has been constructed with a view to catering for local conditions and, also, in some measure, to prove that agricultural machinery made in this country can be produced to suit local conditions better than machinery imported from abroad. It is true, of course, that some of the more complicated components have to be imported, but these can be selected from the best the world can offer. i.e. the best for East African conditions. Thus, the pump used in the sprayer comes from Germany, whilst the nozzles and the fans come from England. The rest of the machine is made in this country and specially designed for coffee in East Africa.
