Abstract
Pyrethrum Tanacetum Cinerariaefolium is a perennial plant cultivated for its flowers, which contain insecticidal chemicals known as pyrethrins. The most important factor in pyrethrum production is the yield of pyrethrins per unit area, which is also a function of dry flower yield and pyrethrins concentration in the dry flowers. Pyrethrins content is a highly heritable character that does not change profoundly with change in environment. To date, there are fifteen clones and three varieties recommended for commercial cultivation in different agro-ecological zones in Kenya.
