Abstract
Pesticides are essential for needed food production and for certain types of disease control, but their use in the past has resulted tn their widespread presence in the earth's soil and water and therefore in man's food supply. Humans and other animals now carry a body containing chlorinated hydrocarbon pesticides. These and other problems of pesticide usage are discussed in terms of source, persistence and final fate in the environment.
