Abstract
Rainfall.-35-80 in. annually, depending on the varieties grown. Should be well distributed with short dry seasons. With prolonged dry seasons irrigation is essential. Temperature.-Optimum - day maximum 88· F., night minimum 50· F. Over 90· F. repeatedly, produces soft, succulent growth with long internodes. Below SO· F.-short internodes, crinkled brittle leaves-"Hot and Cold" disease. Shade reduces diurnal temperature variation.
