Abstract
To identify a stable genotype which would perform consistently higher over a wide range of agroclimaltic environments is of great importance in crop improvement programme. the statistical technique developed (Finally and Wilkinson, 1963; Eberhar1t and Russell, 1966: Ram et ai .. 1970 and Eherhart et al .. 1973) for different crops with diverse breeding systems, to detect genotypic differences for wide adaptability has helped to identify the stable genotypes in different crops. A similar approach is used to detect genoitypic difference among maize varieties being developed at Ilonga for wide adaptability. The 'results from such an analysis Me presented in this paper.
